Class FAQsDo I need any experience to get started?
We will learn all the BEGINNING basics of quilting that will enable you to start your quilting journey with confidence and skills that will get you quilting without going through the expensive and frustrating experience of trying to learn to quilt on your own. Will I get to choose my own colors and size? The QUILTING 101 class offers lots of choices for variation in color, designs, sizes, and price range within the perimeters of our learning program. How much does the class cost? The class fee is $200. This includes nine sessions and about 24 to 27 hours of professional instruction ($150); a nice 3-ring binder and all the class handouts and lessons ($25), PLUS a portion towards the longarm quilting of your finished project ($25). The $25 will cover only some of the longarming fees of the small projects. Also, you purchase your own project fabric and any tools or notions you may require. As you can see, the lessons themselves are very low cost and you really learn all the basics you need to know to become a successful quilter or improve the skills you already have that will greatly increase the quality of your quilting products and your confidence. There are many options for you to make a unique quilt that suits your needs (budgetary, purpose and décor, etc.). Where is the class held? Quilting 101 classes will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Florence, Wisconsin. The small student – teacher ratio ensures you will get all the help you need to be successful. Start and end times are flexible according to class needs. On occasion students may need to miss a class or leave early. In the event important instruction is missed, I will schedule one “make-up” session prior to the lesson before longarm quilting is done. If more than one lesson is missed, there will be an additional charge for those students. What if I have never sewed before? If you need help learning to use your sewing machine and/or learning to sew, we can make special arrangements to work with together for a few hours prior to the quilting class. What if my machine isn't portable or I don't have one? Also, I do have three sewing machines here if you cannot bring your own because it is attached in a cabinet. Most students have chosen to bring their own so that they become comfortable sewing on their machine. |
